Hi and welcome to my blog!
I’m Lois, a space cadet and an avid reader. I’m also a slightly older than your average college student, having gone back after a few years away… I am an Earth Science major, and really would like to end up doing something in planetary geology, particular with Mars if I can get it!
Back to the avid reader part. I love collecting and reading my science and romance books. With science, I tend to stick with all things astronomy, planets and astrophysics related; so when it comes to specific authors, there are a lot of Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking books (but also many books not written by them).
When it comes to Romances, I tend to stick with non-paranormal Regency and Contemporaries; and just a small sampling of authors that I love here are Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Jill Shalvis, Susan Mallery — and many, many, MANY more.
Oh, and I’m a huge Jane Austen fan… but rather figure she needs to be in her own category since she is simply classic. Yes, I love Pride and Prejudice and Mr Darcy, but my second favorite is Northanger Abbey and Henry Tilney. If we are talking about the movies, do not bug me about any other P&P movie that is not the 1995 BBC one with Colin Firth. Oh, and here my second favorite is Emma with Jeremy Northam as Mr. Knightly. Runner up is Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon. And I obviously love Austen prequels, sequels and retellings, as can be seen on this blog with previous reviews.
Just to add a couple of other notes — also a huge Star Trek and Star Wars fan; big news junkie (basically only ever have CNN or the Weather Channel on the tv), but I do live for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, along with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno; NY Mets fan (and any team that plays against the Yankees, especially when they are playing the Red Sox); Phantom of the Opera (did love the 2004 movie version); Space Exploration (including Space Shuttles, space probes); stargazing (with my eyes or Bushnell 10×50 binoculars and Meade DSX-90AT 90mm telescope, with solar filters for both); my beginning stages of a rock and mineral plus meteorite collection; my rubber duckie collection… and love cats (my Kitty of 14 years died back in March 2011).
And that is me in a nutshell. Thanks for visiting!
